... on the Importance of Every Practice
Every wrestler should keep in mind that there is no such thing as an unimportant practice.
To be a champion in any sport, the athlete must be willing to accept the responsibility of giving it all he has during every workout session. This includes not only physical exertion, but also the ability to fully concentrate on every instruction and word of advice given by the coach. Hence, the true champion never has an "unproductive day" during the season. Now I believe that the following assessment by Dr. Heartsill Wilson emphasizes my point:
A New Day
This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it--or use it for good, but what I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes, this day will be done forever, leaving in its place something I have traded for it.
I want each day to be gain, not lose; good, and not evil; success, and not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price that I have paid for it!
Yes, the real champion in athletics and life does not take each day for granted. Instead, he savors the knowledge and experiences that he can acquire from it. Hopefully, you will also do the same!
