Want to state some facts about Gunner Andrick when considering him for the Dutton award. Who else has done what he has done?
He has never lost to a WV kid
If Point would’ve wrestled an in-state schedule like many of these other kids, he probably wouldn’t have any losses
4 Ironman Tournaments
2 Beast of the East Tournaments
2 Powerade Tournaments
2 Grappler Fall Classics Tournaments
Knockout Classic
Top Gun
What other kid has wrestled that competition?
Plus….. what other kid in the discussion has led their team to more state titles?
3 State Dual Titles
2 State Championship Team Titles
Gunner has beat the following kids that are currently ranked in the country over the last couple of years.
Cason Roark (Father Ryan, TN) #19 132
Jesse Grajeda (St John’s Bonco, CA) #12 138
Eren Sement (Counsil Rock, PA) #12 144
Jackson Butler (Bishop McCourt, PA) #14 144
Noah Ninneger (Staunton River, VA) #6 150
Melvin Miller (Bishop McCourt) #2 165
He has also beat these current D1 wrestlers :
Phoenix Aleyea (VMI)
Kiason Garcia (Penn State)
Amauntee Mills (North Dakota State)
Personally no other wrestler in West Virginia has wrestled the competition Gunner has in his career. He is the only West Virginia wrestler to ever win the grappler fall classic . And he has done it twice.

Great information. Can you please provide the corresponding places he achieved at all of the tournaments listed?
I will add the following:
1. Attending a tournament speaks volumes, if if one does not place. I attend Super 32 every year and it is definitely an endurance test.
2. It would be nice if the University community could compile Kehler's resume also.
3. I will be rolling out the Bear Tracks Dutton criteria and rankings on Sunday, February 16th. This information will provide all readers, fans, coaches, etc some comparison and contrast to the official Dutton Award rankings and criteria.
Good luck to all!!!
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!
Re: Dutton
Got the scoop on "Kehler Facts"
Most of these stats can be found online
Current record of 178-1
Also has never lost to a WV Kid
University does not just wrestle in-state as insinuated...Kehler has wrestled (and defeated) many out-state opponents as well.
Kehler is a 3 time OVAC champion and was runner up his freshman year with his loss in the finals to Div-1 commit from Indian Creek. He won the Hercules award (least amount of time on the mat) his Jr and Sr year with all first period pins. OW award his senior year.(OVAC stands for "Ohio Valley Athletic Conference with wrestling powerhouses such as Steubenville, Indian Creek ,Harrison Central and Barnesville Ohio)
4x WSAZ Champion
Freshman year at 195 beat a returning state champion in the semis and returning placer in the finals.
Sophmore year at 215 beat a returning 3x state champion by pin in the finals
Jr year at 285 pinned his way through the state tournament.
NHSCAs Freshman year- finalist- 2nd place lost in OT
NHSCA Sophmore year -Champion
NHSCA Jr -placed 5th
Brock has beaten the following kids that are currently ranked in the country on flowrestling over the last few years...
#1 and #18 p4p Harvey Ludington (NJ)--Arizona St Commit
#9 @ 190 Elijah Diakomahalis (NY)- -Cornell commit
#7@ 215 Kai Calcutt (IL) -NCST commit
#10 @215 Melvin Whitehead(NV)Arizona St commit
#8 215 Austin Johnson (pa) OKst commit
#14 285 Micah Hach SDSU commit
Current D1 Wrestlers that Kehler has beat:
Gunner Henry(WYO)
Parker Ferrell (VaTech)
Sawyer Bartelt (Iowa ST)
Bachman(Lehigh)
Also look at what University has been able to accomplish since his freshman year compared to years before. I'm not saying it is all him but you can tell he is leader and the kids want to emulate that.
WV State Team Runners up
WV State Team Champions (1st time in program history since like 1957)
WV State Dual Team Champions
WSAZ Team Champions (twice)
I think it is tough with it being closer than you may think.

He has only been at 285 the past 2 years, so that shouldn't be an issue. It would be nice for all those wrestlers involved in the discussion to have the information on the wrestlers they have beaten listed with the date of the match, to put it into some perspective.

Re: Dutton
All quality info. Just to add to Gunner’s points here, he’s beaten 24 committed/current D1 wrestlers. 8 commits are currently ranked in Flo’s rankings. Ninneger (6) and Miller (2) are quite notable.
He’s over 180 wins with 130+ pins. Pinned in finals in 0:19, which is a record. 500+ takedowns. All of these accomplished while wrestling that national schedule.
Placed twice at the Beast. Placed at Powerade. Won the knockout Christmas tournament, which is a quality win. Blood rounder three times at Ironman.
I think that’s a robust resume on the national scene. Really no need to discuss the in state stuff, as it’s been 3 titles and no losses.

Not looking for a response and not being negative about anything. However, to help distinguish between the two being discussed here there is no significance to list/record any of the in-state accomplishments (including OVAC) as there is nothing there to distinguish the two. I'm not diminishing the accomplishments, just saying they don't help in the decisions and the quickness of pins can often only point to the quality of competion faced on a regular basis. Any wins over any of the quality out of state competition needs to have the dates of these accomplishments. Anything prior to high school (if they are being listed) would be inconsequential and not pertinent. And the more recent would probably carry more weight than beating someone 3 to 4 years ago. Just my opinion and I am not saying that is how those making the decisions would view it. Also I'm not saying that the data presented favors one or the other, but that it needs to be more specific regarding the dates of the wins if one is trying to support their favorite for the award. I wouldn't leave it up to the judges for the award to have to search it up on the internet.
Re: Dutton
Your “quality of opponent “ may be insulting to some. As some of those pins were state champions…a 3x WV State champion(who placed at these “national events”, 2x Ohio state champions (Thomas brothers) South Dakota State Champion(Hach), 3x NV state champion (Whitehead) Virginia state champion.(Clatterbaugh)All within his highschool career with most of these wins in the last 12-18 months. So with your logic because he pins quickly or makes it look easy they must not be very good. Some of those wrestlers may beg to differ.FYI I’m not campaigning against Gunner, I am just stating facts for Brock.

It's only insulting if I actually said what you are claiming I said. I did not say that pinning people or pinning them fast lessened him or any specific wrestler. I was just saying I felt for both guys (Brock and Gunnar) it was way more important to point out the specifics regarding the victories over quality wrestlers, such as the ones you have mentioned and not leave it up to those deciding to go find it for themselves. I personally saw at least 3 of the six matches that you have listed along with all or most of his OVAC, WSAZ, & State tournament matches and several duals over his 4 years. I have also witnessed many of Gunnars matches at Ironman, Powerade, WSAZ, State tournament etc. You have actually stated opponents he pinned, which is great to support his credentials. And I never treated his accomplishments in a disparaging way. I just mainly said for both and all candidates adding dates of wins could help further their chances, and only in my opinion. I'm not the one needing to be convinced and I was just suggesting things that might benefit both or anyone else being evaluated. Maybe this will be a year where there are co-winners, as it really seems these two are both very, very deserving. That is about as much praise as one could give anyone.

Re: Dutton
Well one thing we can all agree on, they’re both quality guys and happy they’re going to WVU.
Re: Dutton
Brock is an amazing wrestler and a great young man. When West Virginia has a talent like that everyone wants to see him showcase it at the big events. As stated already their in state resumes are very similar.
The Dutton award is a high school award so wins in youth are not considered. since you said to go back and look at nhsca events for names I did. (Harvey Ludington, Kai Calcutt, Parker Ferrell, Sawyer Bartelt, Gunner Henry, Elijah Diakomahalis- he didnt wrestle but placed higher at super 32 middle 2019, Jude Correa the Cornell commit) are all middle/elementary school wins.
I can confirm Brock beat 2x Melvin Whitehead 2022, 2023 nhsca. 2024 nhsca duals he majored Micah Hach 10-2 and only his only loss was to Parker Ferrell 5-2. 19-1 at nhsca duals is impressive. I think a top 4 at Powerade or ironman could have put Brock over Gunner's impressive resume.
