The AA/A State Champions were from the following regions and schools:
Region 1: Six state champions. The champions came from the following schools: Keyser, Oak Glen, East Fairmont, Wheeling Central and two from Fairmont Senior.
Region 2: Two state champions. One from Braxton County and one from Roane County.
Region 3: One state champion from Independence.
Region 4: Five state champions and all were from Point Pleasant.
Additional comments and trivia:
1. Region 1 WV State Dual qualifying teams were Oak Glen and Fairmont Senior. These schools made up 50% of the regional champions out of region 1. Braxton and Roane both qualified for the State Duals. Each school produced a champion. Hoover and Greenbrier West didn't produce a state finalist but did attend the state duals. Point Pleasant won the state duals and the state tournament and produced more state champions than any other school.
2. For the argument of region 1 being the toughest region, I agree. I watched it live this season. As for Point Pleasant not being able to qualify many wrestlers out of region 1, I say they would have had at least 5 wrestlers win region 1.
