If only

Postby TrueSouthFanInPburg » Thu Feb 23, 2017 12:58 am

If only these 14 wrestlers were in Region 2, they would probably be going to the state. Here's where I think these kids would place in R-2. 106-Wilkins Preston (33-15) 2nd. 113-Harper Spring Valley (46-15) 2nd. 120-Talbott Hurricane (27-18) 1st. 120-Shriver Morgantown (22-17) 2nd. 126-Byrd PHS (22-18) 3rd. 132-Dempsey Huntington (31-8) 1st. 138-Flinn South (23-19) 1st. 145-Bishop Preston (26-18) 3rd. 152-Hall Spring Valley (16-15) 2nd. 152-Sink Princeton (10-9) 3rd. 170-Ball Huntington (21-7) 2nd. 195-Salters Riverside (22-16) 4th. 220-Williams John Marshall (25-17) 4th. Harper and Dempsey are rated #6. Flinn and Ball are rated #8. Talbot is rated #9. It's to bad these fine wrestlers are not going to the state because they are in the toughest region that has ever existed.

I missed 132 Blake and 170 Hartley from Cabell Midland Blake is rated #7 and Hartley is rated #9.And I did not see untill just now that Bradbury from Washington was rated #10. There's actually a good chance that Ball would have placed 1st and Hartley 2nd in R-2. I would have had Blake 2nd at 132.

Agreed. So much talent sitting at home. I see several on that list who would have likely placed. Let's just hope it makes them more determined, for the future, and doesn't have a negative impact on them. They have a lot to be proud of.

I do understand what's being said about the aliment or realiment of region and or regions. Could there have been a better aliment? Was the reasoning behind some of this movement because of logistics? Yes to the first and No to the second at least not entirely. Logistic may be a smoke screen for a better record in football. That's the money maker or breaker. Enough about that. Maybe it's easier for me to see the forest because my son is going to states, however that may be,the truth remains the same. You would have to visit region aliment each year or so and rearrange according to strength. Yea no doubt region 4 was a brutal 2017. Not meaning in I'll or disrespect towards anyone, however it is what it is for now. We can't control the weather, the markets, or people's decisions. Life is tough at times and we need to also teach our kids find ways to rise to the challengend even if at times it calls for digging deeper than we went before, pushing us of our comfort zone. Hopefully their will be changes made for the sport in whole if not diversify.

I agree with most of the names. Talbott didn't miss due to the region. He suffered a concussion in the semi's and wouldn't have been cleared to compete at States. The point made still stands, too many top kids sitting at home.

I felt that Byrd-PHS ; Harper-SV; Flinn- P South was going to make some noise at the states. Bummer they are not in.
