Conference Weekend

Postby Bearhugger » Sun Feb 05, 2017 10:36 pm

Based on the scores, Super Bowl weekend was also wrestling conference weekend.

Cardinal
Big Ten
MSAC
Coalfield

The Cardinal Conference and the Coalfield Conference wants to grow wrestling, promote the sport and build future teams.

The Cardinal Conference had its teams and the following also had JV teams: Winfield, Sissonville, Logan and Hoover.

The Coalfield Conference teams that brought JV wrestlers were as follows: Independence, Shady Spring, Greenbrier West, Greenbrier East, Oak Hill Riverview, Pikeview, Princeton, Nicholas County, Midland Trail and Bluefield.

The following even had "C teams": Pikeview, Greenbrier East, Riverview, and Shady Spring.

Now for the irony.

The MSAC is 100% AAA schools (larger populations) but no JV in the tournament.

The Big Ten is the home of East Fairmont. East Fairmont is the home of the best JV wrestler in the state.

This might be a big reason why the south has caught up with the north over the years.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

I didn't liken that during the MSAC. Several of the talented wrestlers didn't perform, injuries are one thing but not totally sure why so many no shows.

Can u imagine two regionals including JVs from the North and South in the future?

There were many top wrestlers out at the MSAC. I spent time at both the Coalfield and the MSAC. Both tournaments have great significance for AAA region 4 and AA/A region 3.
