Support Your Local Middle School Team

I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to support your local middle school wrestling team. Every year we see good middle school wrestlers drop the sport when they transition to high school. While this may be happening for various reasons, I feel that it helps promote the sport in those kids' minds when they see a high school coach, parent or wrestler at their meet cheering them on and maybe, hopefully, convinces them that they want to be a part of whatever is going on at the high school too. If you want to see your high school program grow then a big step towards making that happen starts with those middle school wrestlers knowing that we are watching and supporting them and that we look forward to their arrival at the high school. So this fall, if your favorite high school team is off or out of town, take an hour or two out of your Saturday and swing by the middle school tournament, get your wrestling fix and let them know you are there to support them. It will make a difference.
