Re: Braxton Amos
We should be thankful to see such elite talent in this state not have a measuring contest about who is better. Both kids are class acts. Both are elite WORLD talent. We are beyond blessed to be wrestling fans and have them come through in such a close timeframe. I can’t wait to see Braxton at 197 wr...

Re: South seeking record 22nd state title
Parkersburg South will be attempting to win a state record 22nd state title in Huntington. They would pass rival Parkersburg High for the most titles in state history. Unless 10 of the 14 fail skin check or to make weight I think attempting should be spelled winning. I never take anything for grant...

152 will have the most depth, with 6 of the top 8 wrestlers from the soon to be released rankings wrestling in it.
While the winner of the region might be merely a formality, 2-4 are going to be a dog fight.

182 has 4 out of the top 6.
Hwt has 3 out of the top 7
220 while one sided still has a kid from Ripley who any other year walks away with a state title.

I think we all know why 220 cleared out but I also don’t see those clearing out are going to win titles at the weights they went to. Hwt is tough on top and not giving away a state title this year.

One misstep doesn’t show lack of knowledge. And I agree with the post. Every team in region 4 would benefit being in another region. By benefit I mean increase their chances at qualifying more kids.

AAA's Region 3 is the only AAA region with 8 teams. 1. Out of 14 weight classes, NONE of them have 8 wrestlers. 2. Seven wrestlers: 152 3. Six wrestlers: 145, 195, 285 4. Five wrestlers: 113, 120, 132, 138, 170, 182 5. Four wrestlers: 126, 160, 220. Show up, pass the skin check, make weight, you ar...

Re: Predictions For Region 4 AAA Tournament
HWT is the only class that might create some chaos. 1 and 2 should be an epic battle and 3-7 could all beat each other any given night. From what everyone has seen from Haga and Porter they seem to be bulletproof in the state. I like Carder to win at 145 and I’m not opposed to 138 having their rubbe...

Best v Martin will be one for the ages. I also think Porter/Haga. Should see both of them next weekend again and for the first time. Moler and Quiocho could get a 3rd come states.

For the common fan, it’s probably unhealthier. For the diehards and wrestlers, it’s probably healthier. There is a lot more wrestling happening. I talked to a buddy last night and he said he had 30 matches his senior year (20 years ago and that was making the finals at Ironman and Reno) and a lot of...

Seee I disagree I think Porter should be number one he is the better wrestler. He will when this match by major decision I think the only comparable is Chapman and Haga won 1-0 and I believe Porter won 4-1 this past weekend. I don’t think Haga can beat Porter on points but he can pin him in the rig...

I think the ??? Is pretty accurate. Those 4, I believe, have separated themselves. Porter v Haga will settle 1/2 in a few weeks at Regionals assuming they meet. I think 5-20 are probably capable of beating one another on any given night.

True that! You can put ANYCOACH. Heck a basketball coach that knows nothing about wrestling and he would win titles at Park South but that’s ok takes a lot of work and stress off the staff.... I was a South doubter until I went and watched a dual last week. I still think people overdue them on here...

Congrats to Stephen who got his 100th win on his way to winning the Winner’s Choice in Fairmont this weekend.
Great kid. Great work ethic. Hopefully we get to see him wrestle at the next level as well.

We got 29 AAA schools in WV wrestling. Using the 120 pound weight class as an example, I am understanding that each 120 pounder from each high school are the 29 BEST in the state because they made varsity on their given team. I have a certain wrestler in mind that I guess is the 30th best using the...

Re: Question #1
JV players dress for varsity football games (at least everywhere I'm familiar with) and in a lot of cases actually play in varsity games, obviously, due to injuries, lopsided scores, the varsity player not performing well, matchups, etc. If the kid gives a good showing, he may get more varsity time...
