Re: AA/A Regional Champions Losing Thursday
There’s no question about how strong Region 1 AA/A is. There’s no sense getting all upset about it. The WVSSAC is not going to change. It is what it is.

Re: Eligible for weight classes
I always thought a two class bump allowance was something that could be looked at. It may give teams the ability to better fill all their weight classes for dual meets. Back in the day, before the 215 weight class, 190 pounders could wrestle 285, and many of them held their own there. Always fun to ...

Re: Is it time for WV wrestling to go to one true Champion
I would actually like to see the Single A class continue to grow to the point they can have their own class. Virginia has six different classes in wrestling, so they have six different state champions. I think it would be great for the smaller schools to have their own class and state champions. Let...

Re: Is it time for WV wrestling to go to one true Champion
Eight Districts and top four make it to regionals. Four regions and top four make it to States. One classification for States. Sounds like a good show where the true cream rises to the top.

Frankfort High School is looking for opponents to come to FHS to wrestle next season. We have three open dates. We are at home on Wednesday, December 1st. We would like to make this one a dual or a tri. Currently we are seeking teams for this one. We are home on Tuesday, January 11th. If possible, w...

Stay vigilant about following the guidelines
Please stay vigilant in following the recommended guidelines. We are very lucky to be able to have wrestling this season. Plain and simple: wear a mask indoors in public places and outdoors where large crowds are gathered, avoid large crowds and gatherings if possible, maintain six feet distance bet...

Re: AA-A regional alignment
With the way that basketball programs are realigned, the wrestling tournament is split between the AAA-AA-A class and the AAAA class.

Re: AA-A regional alignment
I was but I wasn't being sarcastic. Considering I had four other wrestlers on my team who did not qualify for States out of Region 1 AA, but they crushed wrestlers in other regions in both AA and AAA who made it to states, there's no doubt the road to Huntington is much tougher for Region 1 AA. Chan...

Re: AA-A regional alignment
Might as well just throw out the separate classification system and just have one class with four regions and eight districts (two per region.) Top four in each district qualify for regionals. Top four in each region qualifies for States. One State Champion in each weight class plain and simple. No ...

Re: State Tournament needs changed
There are enough single A schools with wrestling to have a separate single A class in wrestling. There should be a separate single A class.

Re: Are we doing the best we can for our sport in WV?
Sadly, it's just a monster that has developed over time, and it will not change anytime soon. It sucks, because schools like mine have no money allocated to individual team budgets. Financially, we only have what we earn in fundraisers and home match gates. Any checks the school makes out in the for...

Re: Praying for the Coaches
Individual coaches set the standard for lettering. If it makes you feel any better, all six of my wrestlers earned their varsity letter. I told them about the sports banquet ahead of time. Only two of them came to it. Earning a letter just doesn't seem to be a big thing anymore. I remember when I pl...
