Top 63

Postby Bearhugger » Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:26 pm

We got 63 AA/A schools in WV wrestling.

Using the 106 pound weight class as an example, I am understanding that each 106 pounder from each high school are the 63 BEST in the state because they made varsity on their given team. I have a certain wrestler in mind that I guess is the 64th best using the logic of some.

This 64th best wrestler recently took second place at a VARSITY wrestling tournament. I never missed a day of school growing up due to it being cold and I still cannot understand this math.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

I guess it is fair to say they are the 63 best varsity wrestlers.

And if you are not good enough to make varsity within your own school, then do you drop all the way to 64th?

I went to school one day when it was below 20 degrees. In algebra class, we studied 2x = 8, solve for x. X = 4.

We never came up with:

Take a sample of 10 wrestlers from a population of 63. Throw in an outlier that cannot make varsity on their own sample (team). Have them wrestle. The outlier finishes 2nd but he is still 64th.

1st = 1st
2nd = 64th
3rd = 3rd
4th = 4th

I cannot understand this math. I am not the smartest guy but I never missed school (or work) because it was cold. I also never got into "Devil's Lettuce".

I believe you have beat this dead horse about JV kids wrestling in the state tournament long enough. State tournament is for Varsity wrestlers, like it or not. It has and most likely will always be this way no matter what each of us thinks. Lets just move on. No reason for you to continue to fill up the forum with leading questions that are designed to get people to go down a rabbit hole that, in your mind, supports our argument.

I strongly doubt all 63 A/AA schools in the state have a 106 pounder, so he's probably a little higher than 64 ;)

I’m not aware of anyone saying all varsity wrestlers in the state are better than all JV wrestlers. I’m not opposed to having some method for a quality JV kid to get into the state tournament. But determining what method is best would take some thought. I don’t have a huge issue with how it currently is either. I’m sure there are plenty of kids out there who never place at state level competitions because someone from their own school, section or r goon is better. Perhaps math field day, science bowl, spelling bee, essay contest etc
