The person who came up with this innovative idea for having a Single A tournament is the kind of person WV wrestling needs. The person(s) had an idea. They put it together and it is a now a reality. This could go down as the biggest home run of the 2017 season.

Coach Allen Davis, head coach of Ritchie County and a large group of coaches that make up the landscape of Single A teams that wanted to show case the smaller schools in the state of WV made this possible. Teams with small enrollment but with big hearts. Most of these schools cannot field full weight classes but guarantee that this group will make some noise against teams twice their size of enrollment in two weeks.

I took upon myself that this would be an ongoing tournament. It should be.

I am glad this tournament happened for the smaller schools and hope it continues. Ritchie County coaches, parents, fans and whoever else helped done a tremendous job. Took one longer break at lunchtime that I have no problem with to let the referees, coaches, and table workers eat. Had to be the best officiating and most consistent I've saw all year. Hats off to them!! Ran 3 mats and announced winners of matches for those of us that got side tracked watching a different mat and missed something. Thank you to the "A" schools for putting this together and huge thank you to Ritchie County for doing an excellent job hosting and hope it continues!!
