NCAA scholarship limit increase

How will the scholarship limit increase/roster limit affect WVU? WVU can now award up to 30 scholarships a year. The limit was previously 9.9. The roster will now be limited to 30 wrestlers and according to Flo WVU currently has 37 wrestlers on the roster.

These changes are not supposed to take effect until next year, the 2025-2026 season. I'm not sure how much of an impact on the team it will be going from 36 or 37 down to 30, other than it will obviously eliminate some practice partners. However, I can't see the university spending money on 30 scholarships for the wrestling team. With any luck they will up the number by 5 or 6 and even still I think that is big ask. With the NCAA allowing each team to have 30 scholarships, this will definitely increase the need for fund raising even more on top of raising money to pay the Volunteer Assistant coach and trying to raise money for NIL deals. This doesn't seem like it is going to be a benefit for a lot of smaller funded teams.
