Regional Stats

This is done for all you guys that like stats like me.

Total WV wrestlers that competed at 8 regionals was 833
514 in AA/A and 319 in AAA

AA/A 62 total teams had entrants in this class.

Total wrestlers by Region
Region 1 143
Region 2 123
Region 3 134
Region 4 114

There are a total of 224 slots to go to states out of 514 total wrestlers. 43.5% of wrestlers made it to the Huntington in this division.

AAA 29 total teams had entrants in this class

Total wrestlers by Region
Region 1 82
Region 2 80
Region 3 69
Region 4 88

There are a total of 224 slots to go to states out of 319 total wrestlers. 70.2% of all Wrestlers made the state tournament in this division.

It would be a lot of work but it might be interesting to see the breakdown as to how many were A & AA

I'd rather see what the total regional participation has been for the last 10 years.

Actually, we need to measure each school's participation. The regions are made up of schools. The participation and quality of program is what strengthens or weakens each give region.

In addition, the regions have changed schools a few times in the past 10 years. Keep the stats coming. Stats will draw attention and help solve problems.

:shock: :shock: :shock: Hard to argue data like that. So disappointing for this wonderful sport. What are the objections or obstacles to eliminating the "A" classifications for wrestling in the state and having one true WV state champ? Also, helping to correct the lack of participation and disparity of competition.
