AAA is starting the season in an interesting situation.
The word on the street is:
1. Parkersburg South has at least one very significant wrestler go into retirement. A few others have followed. Hopefully these young lads will wake up and get on the mat.
2. Huntington had a starter transfer to Cabell Midland.
3. Cabell Midland picked up a free agent from out of state, another free agent from Huntington and should/could have a couple back who missed last season due to injury.
4. Wheeling Park lost two wrestlers, one a state placer, because they are now over in the Cameron territory.
5. Bridgeport has the uncrowned 285 state champion due back along with another high probability state placer. These two along with the whole Bridgeport team were of course shut out of the state tournament.
Based on the "Street Words" above, the AAA returning underclassmen is a cluster duck that would make all of us quack. Trying to sort all of this out may or may not happen.
The AAA team race could be real fun this season.

This years team may not be one of South’s all time best teams , however I have no doubt that the kids and staff will once again prevail ... and it won’t b close as per usual.

Wheeling Park should also benefit with the return of Bigger Carmen who sat out last season.

And a healthy Hunter Nixon, who wasn't able to wrestle all year until the regionals, where he placed first and then 3rd at the State tournament.
Re: Returning Underclassmen AAA
Is there a reason the South wrestlers went into retirement?

I'm guessing their heart wasn't in it or possibly they just didn't think they could break into the starting line up.

And a healthy Brayden Lucas who missed most of the season and the got re-injured at the regional and missed States. That is three placers and probably high placers, 2 of which were not in the brackets last year.

Yeah, those two would have scored some points last year. Possibly even made the podium if they wrestled well.
