Re: AAA Individual Rankings- Updated 1/27/18
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this topic. I know for a fact that Doc has the rankings just about ready to release to the coaches for final input.
As those of you who have done your own rankings can see, it’s quite an undertaking to rank these wrestlers based on online results. Now, add to that 28 total weight classes to rank, and then take into consideration that Doc is still recovering from a major medical issue this past spring.
These past few months have shown me how much I truly appreciate all the work Doc, Mary Kay, and the boys put into this website. There’s no other state wrestling website that can hold a candle to it in my opinion. Thank you, Miller Family, for all you do for West Virginia Wrestling.

Updated 160 to reflect Hinzman over Carman.
I think 113 stays the same- as Gray pinned Tirpak, Tirpak lost 5-4 to Sabin and Sabin teched Hobbs.

Jenny, I couldn't agree more. There are no other states sites that cover high school wrestling like WVMAT. This site is a one stop shop for getting information on just about anything related to WV wrestling; both past and present.
Heck, one can even find the WSAZ seeding criteria if they were willing to search for it
Seeding is done by committee.

Re: AAA Individual Rankings- Updated 1/28/18
i see a kid named Zane Hinzman in the AAA rankings. I'll admit that i do not follow AAA hardly at all. A few years ago when i was coaching middle school wrestling there was a boy from Ritchie Co whose last name was Hinzman and I am almost certain his first name was Zane. Does anyone know if this is the same kid. I remember him being really good at Ritchie.

Mr. Powers, please advise where the WSAZ seeding criteria can be found to save all of us some time. I suspect many readers other than me would like to view this. Thank you

Bearhugger,
WSAZ seeding criteria has been discussed many times in years past. The search feature in the top right will bring up some old posts where the question was answered.

Ok, I found the "search" area and found and "brought back" a discussion topic from 2016 where the WSAZ criteria was discussed. See "WSAZ Seeds" forum topic.

That’s true but Bradbury has pinned Nay of Parkersburg and beat Thomas of GE. 4-6 at 182 is super close
Re: AAA Individual Rankings- Updated 1/28/18
Is Gerald Hall of GW still going to be wrestling? He was at Winner's choice but not at WSAZ and MSAC. I didn't research of all his matches, but he did have a head to head victory of 10-5 over Dalton Fullerton of PS the one time they wrestled. I don't know if he has wrestled consistently enough to be ranked above Dalton or if he is injured and out for the year.

Re: AAA Individual Rankings- Updated 2/1/18
Rankings updated following posted results for Huntington @ CM on 1/30 and SV, Hurricane, Ripley @ CM on 1/31. Please let me know of any results I've missed from over the weekend or this week and I will update.
120- Salmons (CM) dec. Taylor 2-0 (Hurricane)
152 Hall (SV) pin Neale (CM)
152 Neale (CM) dec. Edwards (Huntington) 5-1
Hopefully, this has helped Doc and taken some of the burden off of him. These are based on results (hopefully accurate) and not subjective. I think it's fun to look through the results and have some idea on where kids "should" finish, but then watch them exceed expectations/predictions at the state tournament. Hard to believe we are one week from the regional tournament.

You need to adjust the team of 126 Salmons in the ranking

Gerard Hall of GW is still wrestling. He wrestled at WSAZ and got a minor injury and to help with recovery we held him out of the MSAC. If all things go well he will back tomorrow at the Kanawha County Championships.

Updated on 2/2/18 to reflect Helms (Brooke) pin Thomas (Hurricane).
Re: AAA Individual Rankings- Updated 2/2/18
Going by the current rankings, you could possibly see 7 state final matches at the region 4 tournament.
Think the regions may be a little out of whack?

From the old regions you would have only had 5 potential final matchups from Region I. 12/28 of the top 2 wrestlers in this poll are from the city of Parkersburg.

152 Maybe Elswick should be ahead of Helms since he defeated him 14-7.

Missing Persons Report
I know the results are probably on track rasslin or Hillarys secret server but are Lambert from Hampshire and Moran from Martinsburg wrestling this year. I was looking at the high school all American list on this site and I thought it odd that two high school all Americans were not even thought of as being among the top 6 in their weight class in little ole wv but they're top 8 in the US of A? Maybe Regalbuto was right when he said the eastern panhandle kids don't get the respect they would get if they lived somewhere else. Is it possible it is their coaches fault for not sharing scores?

No need to act like WV wrestling is weak when making your case for them to be ranked. They both had 1 win and 2 losses and did not place in the “little ole WV” state tournament last year. But I could see reasons to have them #6 on the lists.
