Never have I Ever
I have never ever ever seen a ref slap the mat and take it back. How unfortunate for the Sissonville Senior to lose his shot at a State Championship in that fashion. I believe he slapped the mat because he saw that the Fairmont kid was pinned but he was coming around to get in position to slap the mat, but by that time, Fairmont’s shoulder was up, and it was noticeable so he changed it he call. Fact is, he was pinned a couple seconds before the mat was slapped. Having said that, the likeliness of the fall happening in the next 5 seconds was very high, and the Sissonville wrestler had 18 seconds left when the ref called the fall and stopped the match. There is no rule for this. The call was the call and should not have been changed. Yes he got a whistle point to tie the match, but he slapped the mat!!! A restart puts the advantage back to fairmont with 18 seconds left. Slap the mat means match over. That is different from a whistle point. All I can say is wow.

Feel bad for the Sissonsville kid, feel bad for the FS kid who is very young and got his hand raised with so many boos.
Hope he knows the decision was what was getting Booed. Not him.

Absolutely agree. Not fair to FS kid either. I’d say neither of them boys slept well last night.

I'm excited that the use of video can be used for reviews now.

Add this to the embarrassment that we have accumulated over the years…

other match i wasn't there i saw the video but one kid had the kid pinned his shoulder's down flat on the mat for a good 5 seconds alot of people wasn't happy with it including the coach the ref didn't bother checking the kids shoulder's alot of people in the stands and some other coaches to knew the kid had the other kid pin wasn't called
Re: Never have I Ever
I saw those 2 calls and a locking hands call with 20 seconds left that decided a match in the medal rounds. Video proved otherwise. All 3 matches involved the same school.
