Re: Point Pleasant JV at the WSAZ
Very impressive showing by point, particularly at 106. One thing to consider with the scoring, it looks like all non-scoring wrestlers were lumped into one team for each school. So at 106 Henderson and Freeman would have both earned 24 points(assuming my quick math is correct) towards the Point1 tea...

Re: Seeking Information
Kanawha County has not allowed JV wrestlers in the county championship for a few years now. It comes up every year in the coaches meeting. I believe you need to go look at this years brackets. There were not many simply because numbers are down overall, but some weight classes had both a varsity an...

Re: Seeking Information
I don't think you necessarily get the best 8 basketball teams or the best 16 football teams in the state tournament. Basketball, like wrestling relies on regionals (and sectionals) which aren't necessarily even. Football uses their point system which is relatively fair, however you can be punished f...

From the old regions you would have only had 5 potential final matchups from Region I. 12/28 of the top 2 wrestlers in this poll are from the city of Parkersburg.

Re: Question #1
They may play in a total of 50 quarters in one season, excluding playoffs. A single snap counts as a full quarter. In 2015-2016 they changed the rule for Freshman teams. If a freshman plays in a Varsity game they cannot move back to the Freshman team; therefore it makes more sense to let Freshman wh...

Re: Take down control
I understand the point and the figure referred to in the rule book. I wasn't actually referring to the obvious however. Maybe it's a little difficult to describe. More like when the one wrestler's leg is still completely in front of the other and being held at the knee beside the neck. The "to...

That's an administration problem. One that I'm sure there to lazy to fix and they either hope it goes away or someone else will fix. Administration can’t fix no applicants. Parents knew the coach was moving up with his son. No one stepped up. Supply and demand. Administration should offer a better ...

Re: Enormous # of matches on records
If my memory serves me right my senior year we had 5 dual or pool tournaments; so at 9 matches that's 45 matches for 10 weigh ins. For bracketed tournaments we went to Braxton County, Pat Vance, WSAZ's and MSAC's. At that time they were all at least 16 man bracket tournaments, assuming one places, t...

If they were changing the regions for basketball I don't know why they'd want to set themselves up to play Huntington in the first round of the playoffs. 5 titles in 6 championship appearances since 2005.

I completely agree with Jbee, he did a way better job of what I was trying to say. I'm not sure what you're talking about with adding weight classes back? There have been 10 college weight classes with only minor changes since 1952. In fact over time High School, College and International Wrestling ...

First and foremost I am not now nor have I ever been a proponent of allowing JV wrestlers into the state tournament, so maybe I'm a little biased. I used to coach cross country at a high school, I won't mention which school to protect kids names for this story. Our team qualified for the state tourn...
